Sway bar FYI

I bought the "PERF FRONT SWAY BAR (1 1/8")" part number 34-2510 from LMC and while it appears to be a well made part it will not work with the McGaughy's 2.5" drop spindle. This bar has an L bracket that gets mounted to the lower control arm and when this is done the steering arm contacts the outside edge of the sway bar before reaching full lock. I would think there wold be something on LMC's site about this since they do sell it and lowering spindles, but I understand companies don't test every product together to find issues.

So as the title states, this is just an FYI no a bashing thread. Just hope it helps someone else to not order the part if they're going to be using, at least this brand, drop spindles.

Anybody in the Ft. Worth,. Texas area want to buy this? I can send pics of it installed and show why it won't work with lowered spindles.
I am able to return it, just not sure how much a sway bar is going to cost to ship from Ft. Worth, TX. to Lenexa, KS. Figure it'll be $40 easily so I'd rather take the loss in selling it to someone locally than to find something to pack it in, go to UPS/FedEx/USPS and pay that amount to send.
I know this isn't the classifieds so if this needs to be moved, just let me know.

Just curious are there brackets on your frame or does the sway bar bolt directly to the frame?

My truck has no brackets - all the holes are there for a sway bar brackets.
I'm still looking for a factory bar and brackets.

Post #2 above is no longer valid. LMC let me ship it back and they even paid for shipping since there wasn't any information that it would not work for lowered vehicles.

On a kind-of related note, for anyone not running a sway bar, get one! I just put a stock 1 1/8" sway bar on mine that I got off another truck, and I can't believe the difference it made. Not just in cornering either. When driving down back roads and the pavement tips the truck from side to side, a sway bar totally stabilizes it. It's a fantastic upgrade. If you're getting it off another truck, remember to get the brackets off the frame. They are hot riveted on there, so plan accordingly.

Yes, I definitely recommend a sway bar. Even in my stock k10, there is a noticeable difference in handling. Rides better too, in my opinion.

Most C10s were built without a sway bar. While I don't have production numbers to back that up, I'll say that I looked at 10 C10s being parted out before I found a truck that had one.

Reproduction control arm brackets can be purchased from LMC, etc. Aftermarket frame brackets can be had for $10-20 at a variety of places.

One of mine is the heavy with bigger rotors and I think the camper package and it does not have it. I'm not sure how they decided which needed it.
