Ok so the weather in PA has finally stabilized (I hope lol). Its time to hit the picking yards. What years are the 4L60e controlled by the engine ecm? 1993-?

I currently have a 1992 TBI setup in my truck. What ecm # would I need for the 4l60e?

I found an electronic 3 wire speed sensor for the transfer case on a jeep that looks very similar to the mechanical sensor for my np208. I was gonna see if that fits, if so anyone know if that 3 wire plug would work lol

How crazy is it to rebuild one? Am I a fool to try and do this as a novice?

No you are not a fool to try and rebuild one. I would think that since you are buying one from a yard and not pulling your current, it would be the perfect time to tear into one. You will get a much more intimate look and knowledge by doing it. There are so many resources out there in this day and age that you can use for rebuilding tips and procedures. If you do happen to mess something up, throw your original one back in until you can get the other fixed back up.

I agree. Grow a pair and go for it. You never what you're going to get or how long it will last coming out of a wrecking yard. And furthermore, don't know how long it's been sitting and if that hasn't allowed the seals to dry up.

Which wiring diagram, for what? Just Lock Up converter or 4L60-E transmission? I have an ATSG manual, if I can find it, that has several wiring diagrams.

Now, that I won't have. In fact, I think what I have in my ATSG manual is the different wiring patterns for the lock up. Some use the 3 and 4 , or 4 pressure switch, some do not. Then some are different if they use ECM lock up or vac switch lock up.

One of the swap gurus could probably help with that better than me. Jims86 or Foamy maybe since they do TBI and TPI swaps. Oneluckypops but he isn't here much at all and does Vortec swaps, along with 4L60-E to 4L80-E swaps and knows the pinout changes needed to go 4L80-E from 4L60-E.

There is an upgraded servo, but it's not called a Vette Servo since Vette's didn't get the 4L80-E.

Is it as easy to change as the 4l60e servo and is it beneficial?

On a 4L60-E, as well as a 700r4. yes it's easy and yes it's beneficial. It will firm up your 2nd gear shift and give a tad more holding power too. That servo is on the outside of the case, so you don't even have to pull the pan.
