Stock radio mounting

My dash has been hacked... horrendously poorly... for a now missing DIN style radio. Does anyone know if the factory style aftermarket radios out there need the metal structure to mount, or do they just attach to the instrument bezel? I'm looking at the USA-740 from Custom Autosound. Really don't want to hack my new bezel up for a stereo. I know I'll botch it, and I prefer the stock look. Thanks.

The holes in the bezel are just clearance for the shafts, they are mounted to the metal dash structure.

The two shafts are mounted into the metal dash. There is also a factory rear metal support/strap that extends down to the bottom of the metal dash, secured with a screw on the lower edge of the dash. Most radios have a threaded bolt sticking out the back of the radio, specifically for a support bracket.

For a universal radio you might have to adjust the shaft lengths so they extend the correct amount to go through the plastic bezel and provide clearance for the knobs to slide on. I have a retrosound radio, and it required some trial and error because the plastic bezel is actually angled just a little bit.
