I'm getting ready to scrap what's left of a burb frame and was wondering if anyone has tried making a frame reinforcement plate out of another frame. It looks like the plate they sell is just a plate stamped to match the frame being reinforced. I would think that a piece cut out of the same place on another frame would be stamped with the same shape and could be trimmed to make a reinforcement plate. Not having a bare frame to try it on right now, I think I will save that section and try making it when I get to that point on my truck, unless someone has already tried it and can tell me if I am wasting my time.

Good idea but, it's not just the frame plate. The truss addition from the box to the front crossmember completes the setup.

I believe that truss is extra. There is probably kits with all of it,but frame repair kits I’ve seen only include the side plate with the bolt pattern and the plate that goes underneath the btm of the frame.

Might not look refined as this, but a skilled fabricator could manage.
