its reverse rotation. due to serp setup.
OK, not real familiar with what goes on with fitting a serpentine set-up, l assumed you just swapped over the pulleys, and the water pump still rotated clockwise from the front?

Since you're in need, look up cold case radiators. They make a real nice setup with fans an a shroud as an option. They work very well, I'm a dealer if you'd like I can see what I can do on a setup for you.

Alternatively I have a stock radiator an shroud with a 2002ish jeep grand Cherokee electric fan. It works great an has no problems keeping the truck at/around 195 degrees. The shroud is most definitely needed regardless of the direction you go. Controlling the flow of the air an ensuring it goes through the radiator is as important as the amount of air you get through there....

Didn't read the entire thread but I have a serpentine setup on my 87 r10.
Took everything from a 90 burb. had the reverse fan/clutch and water pump too.
Have been running for 5 years no issues. I did put on a new water pump at the time so wouldn't have to worry about leaks. Also new rad hoses. The bottom was the same. The top one was for the burb. I also have A/C, R4 style.
I can take a pic if you want to see the setup.

I wouldn't use a 3 1/2" spacer, anything out of balance will put a lot of strain on the water pump shaft.

We have been running these Flex A Lite fans on our big block for months now and they have no issue keeping the engine cool.
Even though they do not cover the entire radiator, they cover plenty of it and move tons of air.

Sorry that happened! As was mentioned above, your water pump shaft sheered off, (at the channel that the bearing runs on) due to that huge fan spacer. I had the same thing happen about 4yrs ago, and I learned the hard lesson: Don't use a fan spacer.

IMO, if you don't go with electric fans, you'll want to re-create an OE style set up, which will include a factory shroud. You'll want the fan blades sticking about 1/2-3/4th of their depth "into" the shroud opening. The rearmost section of the blades should be out of the shroud, in order to provide proper air flow off the blades.

a 36 (34?) 4 core radiator and a small pusher fan on your trans cooler would help too, yes? :)

Im just going to go with dual fans. 4 core radiators are to expensive to be replacing. Not
going to take any chances from here on out!!

Thanks everyone and AuroraGirl
