So a GMT400 bench will work in the Squares with modified stock mounts...hmmm seems i may need to see if i can have a friend bring a decent GMT400 seat back when they go pyp shopping lol. It looks like it is a bit shorter on the bottom cushion if the Square tracks are 4" too long...which should move the driver back a bit then..Gain a bit of room near the steering wheel.

Just now saw this....I'm a doofus.

The column in my truck is not a tilt column so it partly necessitated the way we did it or the seats would have been TOUCHING the bottom of the steering wheel which obviously wouldn't work for us  if a tilt column is present I can see where the way 78shortandwide did it would work. I also like how mine came out because they sit flush against the floor and fit "like a glove" in there.

EDIT: the link for my seat mod is linked in my sig.

I found the comment, i honestly don't know what signature is though. New to forums lol

I've been revisiting the seat swap infos I can find as my time draws near to do it.
Here's my plan after studying on what is available to me.

I bought a pair of second gen F body buckets WITH SLIDERS from Craigslist a while back. It looks like I can simply swap the adjuster tracks and :grd: , at least that's my plan.
Ima get my exhaust guy to take the stops out of the tracks and swap bases.
The f-body (Camaro) seats seem to have a HANDY way to add height adjustment with only some warshers and a longer bolt that attaches the track to the seat as seen in the 3rd photo. The "stop" is only the bolt head, smushed up.

I'm not sure how much LOWER they sit, but it will not be much, because ima use the o.g. truck bases.

See attached photos of the Camaro sliders -the "stop" is ALSO the mounting stud into the floor, so it'll be destroyed during removal and get replaced.
I'm only lookin at 6 bolts, 4 washers + how ever many I choose to add for "seated height adjustment", PER SEAT.
Toss Expert Muffler guy Richard say , $20 bucks ?
Seems easy enough to me and OBVIOUSLY requires the mounting hardware from another bench - don't forget.
I can buy it right now for $45 - $60 bucks on eBay or Craigslist.

Whattya think? It'll work!

I cut out the humps in the floor that cleared the factory fuel tanks (removed already) and welded it all back in level with the floor so I could install 2003 Chevy pickup seats like I have in my work truck and my 06 Duramax. Now will have plenty of room to spare.

I'm looking for ideas to help me with my truck, I'm a pretty big dude and I recently got a 86 Chevy pick up with a bench seat. I don't fit behind the wheel with the bench and I'm trying to find a solution to my problem, I'm gonna try to install bucket seats with home made custom bracket. Want ideas to try in case that doesn't work. The truck was a gift and I love it so it would mean a lot to me to make it work.

I'm also looking for newer bucket seats but I have children so I have to have the middle part.

Gotta be kinda easy to put GMT400 seats in..those 40/60 deals with the console would work great I imagine...like in "conversion" trucks.

I know this is an old thread and 79K10 hasn't been around in a while but I'm hoping someone will be able to help me.
I get a set of seats from a 2005ish Dodge Ram. Nice set, had a set of decent covers made and they turned out great. Unfortunately after all the $$ I put into them I can't get them to mount low enough to be comfortable and have them move - the power motor setup is just too bulky. So I am now on a quest to find a new set of something other than the stock bench seat so it'll have a slightly more modified look and hopefully be a little more comfortable than the original bench. I was led to this post and the below seat.

It appears, from other replies here it is from a 95-98 1500 but I can't find any other pictures on the web of a seat like this in those trucks. They have all been split bench which would mean more fabricating and I am so close to giving up on this truck I want it to go as smooth as possible - even though I don't want a factory seat. I know, I just asking for trouble. So is it my imagination for is this a bench seat with 2 back rests and a center folding section/armrest?
