Went back this morning to get some parts I was unable to get yesterday because they closed for the day. There were a couple peeps in line in front of me, then several more went to the front of the line. Most only had very large screw drivers and pry bars which was a little puzzling to me. So the door opens and these guys in front of me get let in and bypass the entrance fee. Hmm, interesting so they must work there. I pay my entry fee and go to the square I was getting parts from day before. I then noticed those guys methodically going to certain autos and prying trunks, side hatches, anything they can force their way in. They rifle through those now unlocked areas looking for treasures, I now call them treasures hunters. After they finish that, they start removing parts with higher values. Looks like you have to get there early when new meat arrives or you are left with crappy parts, at least at this yard. I now know why the vehicles are pretty much picked over when I get there. I guess that’s why it’s called “PICKED APART”. There was a nice front bumper on that truck when I left at closing, gone this morning, so I guess it’s opened to others after the public is locked out. I did score some gauges, chrome, door panels, steering wheel, and turn signals. Had I waited until tomorrow, I would not of scored anything…brutal!
