i have a 84 chevy c10 has the 502HO crate motor in it with just a few mods 500+ horse and 600+ torque and the 700r4 held up just fine after building it when the motor was put in the truck back in 95. the trans lasted for about 12 years without 1 issue till i let it get low on fluid and didnt realize the pan started to leak. cant say the same for the built 400 that went in after it barely last 3 years and was treated better, for me i will not go back to the 400, im putting the 700r back in. as for the 10 bolt they are tougher than most give them credit for mine however has the 12 it was swapped to that mainly for the gear. good luck with the swap and you will like it. any questions feel free to ask i have done it several times
