Instead of using a drill/wire wheel you might get better results using a 4-1/2" angle grinder with a wire wheel. You woulda had a lot less rust left I believe. But yeah that purple stuff looks like hell when it dries but that's the way it's supposed to look, it wont ever look like an even coat of paint or primer. When I get around to doing the rest of my axle I'll take some pics, mainly use it in places my grinder wont reach the rust.

So I'm ok to skip the the 2nd coat or go ahead with the second coat? I'll have to buy the angle grinder. Thats something I dont have yet.

You can skip the 2nd coat, I never do 2 coats. Usually while I'm putting it on a part I will dab more on the worst places as I go but yours is probably good as it will get. I would do 2 coats of primer, light sand the 2nd coat to smooth it out some then paint.

What the hell? You leave it on? I thought it stripped it to bare metal? I totally misunderstood this product. :slap:

Is there a reason you didn't try the electrolysis thing on it?

No, The Purple Power De-Ruster stays on so you can paint over. Just like the Rustoleum Rust Reformer.

Dont wanna take the chance on dumping toxic waste on street in a housing development where there's a home owner ass. is at.

I might end trying on a 4bbl intake though and taking the chance of getting caught.

Are you going to sand the primer coat after it's dry?

Not sure if sanding it to smooth it out will make a difference cause it still has rough texture to it on the surface. Might be able to fill in that rough texture surface with couple coats of engine paint.
