One of the plethora of times that I had the carb off and on to fix it, I think I did something to the choke.
Its been hot down here in Texas so I havent had the need to fix it, and out of the blue, its 40 degrees.

So I will describe it has the choke is loose. I thought that I read somewhere that the butterfly should open on its own weight. So if that is true, that works. And the linkage seems to be attached to the cam correctly, as I didnt take any of that apart.

But, if I adjust the fast idle screw, it changes nothing. So it *feels* as if that is the part that isnt attached to something it should be.

I can get pics later on if need be.

Have you used a DMM to make sure you're getting proper voltage?

Oh geez, lol.

Go out in the morning and pop the hood, remove the air cleaner. When you crack the throttle open, does the choke plate close?

Oh don't you worry, I have in the past... You don't have to disconnect it to test with a piece of **** test light.

Plus there is nothing wrong with the heating element.

Not worried at all. I've read enough of your other threads to know you'll get it almost fixed correctly.

The coil should be able to pull it closed. It could be broke or the housing could have rotated out of adjustment.

gahhhhhhhhh. Ok. So, I was wondering that. I didnt want to go tearing **** off if I didnt need to, but if you and I are thinking the same thing then... *le sigh*. I just didnt want to miss something obvious like, linkage or something like that, but I couldnt see anything. Ill pull the choke apart and see. The hell doesnt stop with this carb.

I would try to adjust before tearing it apart. Then may need to take apart to repair if necessary.

Worked fine last winter. Its more than an adjustment. Its no where near correct.

There was a Holley on it when I bought it. A 6210... 6203... something like that. Mechanical secondaries, no choke... no thank you.

Sure I could have gone for a new one, but then Id have to have sex with my cousin because I used a Holley....

The real problem is that I used National Carburetor, and you get what you pay for. I should have just spent a little more and bought one from a reputable rebuilder, but I was also looking for one for my model year as there were just too many hacky things going on with the truck. So back to "stock" and then work out the mods.
