Plasti dip on rubber parts?

In line with the thread here below about parts quality and availability, I’m reusing the original gas filler and vent hoses on my 86, due to availability and the fact that they’re in surprisingly good shape. Only a tiny amount of minor splitting on a couple of the ends which I’ve trimmed off.
But thinking for the next 35 years, would a shot coat of plasti dip on them help preserve them or just a waste of time? Thinking a barrier to oxidation, road debris etc might help? They don’t see much if any UV light , hence why they’re still in good shape, but, thoughts?

Compatibility, will the plasti dip formula destabilize rubber or protect it? That is the question. You could do a test, use a small section of the cracked hose you cut out, tie a piece of string around it and put in in the can of plasti dip. Close the lid and let it sit for a couple of days. Pull out the test piece and check condition to see if Plasti dip damages the rubber.

^That's what I was getting at, but you said it better. And great idea if I had saved the little strips I cut off...
I doubt it would harm it one bit as the solvent in it evaporated fairly quickly. But by the same token, I've subjectively decided that they probably have another 20 years of life in them. Only reason I gave it any thought is my '74 Jeep (also quite clean and 99% rust free/original) has a rotted out gas filler hose that is all dry rotted and actually has a crack in it that leaks, not when you fill it, but when the tank is over half full and gas sloshes around while driving. But that one has been hit by everything kicked up by the back wheels for 48 years...These trucks are obviously pretty well protected from everything except road spray or serious muddin.

I bought new 'universal' hoses that were the correct diameter but had the shape or size I needed incorporated......like a 90* hose or one with a 45 in it.....then cut it how I needed it.

I debated using the OE style clamps, but couldn't find any and then saw that LMC and Brothers both sold what looked like standard hose clamps for them.

If you've gone that far, IMHO I'd put new hoses on and fugetaboutit. My 2 cents.
