Okay i have kind of an odd situation. Looking to swap a NV3500 into my 86. Found alot of threads here, but no one has my exact situation.
I have an 86 GMC K1500 shortbed.
350, SM465, and NP208.
I have 4:10 gears, so it screams going anywhere, eats alot of fuel. Was looking for a trans with OD. Bought an NV3500 out of a 98 k1500. Seems like its a good swap, but i do have a few questions.
I took measurements and the lengths look perfect. Case length is the same, mount location is the same, bellhousing is the same, round bolt T-case pattern is the same. From my research, the output shaft spine count is the same. Shouldn't need to change drivehafts.
I have a hydrualic clutch already, and according to some YouTube videos ive watched it says i can use my 80s cutch master cyl, with that internal style 98 slave cyl/release bearing if i run an adapter fitting.

Now my biggest issue i have is i believe, i will need a differnt flywheel and clutch set.
Now id just buy a set for a 98 and call it done, except my 350 in my truck is out of a 86 corvette, and the flywheel bolt pattern is the larger internally balanced SBC and BBC type.
Cant find any info on what type of flywheel i would need to buy. Kinda lost there.
Also not 100% sure if the YouTube info i got on using a stock master cyl will work. If not, what would i need? Would a 90s model master cyl bolt up? Or what adapter fitting do i buy.

Anyone here have any answers or been threw the same thing, i would greatly appreciate help. Thanks.

I don't have any answers but I am really happy to see you posting here again!

I had that transmission in a '95 GMC and I loved it. It would certainly be a more useful and modern transmission in your '86.

Sorry I am no help with your problems.
