What was the issue with the Dakota Digital VSS generator that Crispy suggested before?

Tail housing

I would go for the kit @vr1967 recommended. I did a homemade version for free but already had the reluctor wheel and sensor and got my tail housing welded for free. That kit wasn’t available when I was trying to figure it out…

Got me to thinking now. I still have a driver’s drop parts 241. Wonder if I could 3d print an adapter to go in the original hole? Or machine me one out of aluminum here at work?

Just some Deja Vu here>>
2020 holy cow I forgot about that thread. That project never happened. I'm looking at doing a
6.0 with a 4l70E and a 208 since the kit VR1967 recommended works with both T/C 208-241.

I did install the Walter Engineering VSS on a NP208. I found Walter Engineering VSS problematic. First the signal was very weak and would only start working after I was going 20mph+. I needed to get the speed sensor closer to the reluctor wheel, so I sanded done the speed sensor holder to get it to sit closer to the reluctor wheel. It works better, now starts picking up vehicle speed around 4-5 mph but I would say's it's not perfect. Also where the VSS fits into the case is leaking oil and I need to figure out how to stop the leak. Possibly use some RTV where the o-ring seals in the case. If you go with the Walter set-up, please let us know how it goes because there is not much information out there.

I have a whole 241c transfer case from an 05 06 2500 with 148,000 on it. Manual shift. I'd let the whole thing go cheap.

This really sucks to hear. As far as the leak, RTV does wonders.
