Hey guys I'm currently looking for a new set of wheels. More specifically I'm looking for 15s so i can run some BFGoodrich Radial T/As. My question is what do I need to do to run 15s. Grinding the calipers? And will they fit over the rear drums? It's a 79 C20. Any help from you guys is appreciated. Currently running 16.5 Turbines but new tires are hard to find smaller than a 35...
Sorry if this questions been asked before.

Rear will be fine, not so sure about the front. Amount of backspacing has a lot to do with it. What tire size are you planning on? I like 255/70 on a stock height 2wd.

255/75 more than likely. It is stock height. What amount of backspacing would you suggest? If necessary i can always grind the calipers down a bit

I guess I would question why not go with 16" wheels? Tires are probably the same price as 15"s and you don't have to worry about clearance. I take it you don't plan on towing with your truck after putting on the T/A's?

As far as I know Radial T/A's don't come in 16's. I've never done any towing with the truck it's just gonna be a weekend cruiser. I'd stick with my Turbines but 16.5's are next to impossible to find

Gotcha, I think I understand. When you are looking for wheels, steel wheels are going to have more clearance than aluminum wheels.

Probably right, steel wheels are what I'm gonna buy. What amount of backspacing would be required so I wouldn't have to grind the calipers down? 4.25"

The only 15" 8-lug wheels available are made of steel. I know on a 1-ton 4x4, a 15 inch wheel with 4 inches of backspacing requires a crap ton of grinding, and a 3/4 ton 4x4 requires just some minor grinding. 2wd might not need any grinding?

What size of rear drums do you have , 11" or 13" ?
I have a '79 K20 full-floating rear axle I just bought and it seems to have 11" drums. Much smaller than my only 3/4 ton I've had or any of the 1 tons.

Ok so i need these gone. 200.00 picked up, or 250.00 shipped anywhere. Just dont have room for them. You wont find a better deal for new wheels.

Wrong thread?

It's hard to say. And we probably won't ever know either. This guy will likely never respond and just post senseless responses in other threads.
