Hey everybody! I've have been lurking for a few months now but figured I would go ahead and introduce myself. I am trying to teach myself how to do some car repairs and figured why not buy an old Chevy to learn on. I needed a truck anyway and I have always loved the old square bodies! I bought a used 1987 V10 with 5.3L 350 in it. Has a about 80k on it. It needs some work but it runs pretty well. The body and a frame have a little rust but not bad. So far I have a stiff gas pedal so I have changed out the accelerator cable and rebuilt the TBI. Rebuilding the TBI seemed to help some but the pedal still pretty stiff. Next on my list is redoing the dash and headliner. The engine has a slight tick that I have yet to diagnose. Also, I need to get the AC working...I'm sure more will come up but so far I'm loving this truck! Here she is all polished up....

Nice truck must be one of those super rare 5.3 350 v10s. I own a 77 K10 I bought it almost 20 years ago with 80,000 mi on it it could use a paint job I have done some interior work but I'll probably never finish it. My truck is black also with red interior but I changed most of it to burgundy

Thanks, Sounds a lot like mine. I mistyped in my original post. Its a 5.7L. I must have typed 5.3L because I have been reading up on LS swaps....

Welcome. And beautiful truck!
I suppose I agree with your " and I needed a truck anyway" statement, considering, by your pics, your only other option is a new Super Doody!

Welcome aboard. Thats a real sweet looking truck.

I had a real stiff pedal when I changed the kickdown cable on the transmission because it wasnt adjusted correctly. Has the pedal always been stiff? Does it shift ok?

Thanks! Yeah, the pedal has been stiff since I bought the truck. I never got to ask the previous owner about it...It does seem to shift ok. I haven't noticed any issues there.
