I wanna know if those actually with no problems. The OEM black ones dont interchange on the early and late years on the GMT400. I was gonna order the black metal ones to replace my plastic handles and was told the early metal door handles wouldnt fit on the later models that used the plastic door handles.

I've replaced a lot of those handles, never seen any that were plastic.

I think mine are plastic, but just as I said these are just covers to go over mine, they don't replace anything. I had both mine out before and I'm pretty sure they aint metal, they are like composite or fiberglass, something pretty hard but I don't think metal.

I would think MAYBE the reason they say won't interchange is some didn't have PS keyhole?

My 97K1500 has plastic/textured OEM door handles. 88-94 has the smooth/metal door handles and the 95-98 has the plastic/textured door handles.

They are die cast, like the same cheap stuff they use to make the body of a matchbox car. I've had to replace dozens and dozens of them because they crack and break. They are not much fun, but bearable if you remove the door latch screws.

Yes they are textured, but not plastic. Only smooth ones I remember were painted body color, like on the later Denali thing. I dunno, maybe I just don't remember the smooth black ones.

Or are you talking about the inside handle?

yea mines smooth, and makes sense them being diecast, I'd bet you are exactly right on that part after thinking about it.

My 90 and 88 had the black metal ones cause the paint will chip off over time.
