th350 kickdown cable.

It's not a kickdown cable either. Even on a Th350 although it was never called a TV cable, which is throttle valve, is a better name to call it than kickdown cuz it actually is a throttle valve cable. The proper name for a Th350 cable is called a "Detent" cable. The cable determies detent pressure, which is throttle pressure and does affect the shift points greatly. Yes, it does perform kickdown too, but it's main purpose is to help determine shift points with the governor and the vac modulator. With the detent cable not hooked up on a Th350, your shifts will be way early at light throttle, even if you max out your vac modulator.

Just saying, TV cable would be 5x more correct than kick down cable, so detent cable Tomato, TV cable Tomoto, kick down cable for those who don't care for it's tech name. :roflbow::roflbow::roflbow:

BTW, that is how I like a Th350 detent cable adjusted. If you don't as said above, your light throttle shifts will be early and soft. The way that is adjusted, you have a good shift point and bit of firmness to the shift even at light throttle.

Yep, there is a difference. The 700r4 depends on the TV cable to raise line pressure and is why you'll burn one up if you don't have the cable connected and adjusted properly, where a Th350 detent cable regulates detent pressure and adjusts the shift points which incidently raises line pressure for a firmer shift. 700r4 MUST have the cable connected and adjusted properly, Th350 just performs night and day different with it hooked up but will not burn up. The thing you have to be concerned with on a Th350, is getting the cable to tight which hurts nothing, but when your cable runs out of pull, then it limits your throttle pull also, so when you think you have it to the floor, you're actually not getting a full WOT on the carb even though you are on the detent cable. You also don't want to get it so tight that you have a late WOT shift from 1-2 either, which is more important if you have a shift kit, cuz with a shift kit, the override to protect the motor from high rpm is overridden and will let you keep it in 1st gear until 10,000, or infiniate rpm and blow your motor. Now that's a far stretch or exaggeration of what happens but you get the point. I like it just tight enough to drag out the 1-2 shift a bit on a light throttle take off so you're not in 3rd gear by the time you cross the intersection.

I didn't get one in it, I PUT one in it.

They had a ghetto rigged 700r4 in the truck when I bought it, looked like a 2wd one w/o the tail and a 2 inch spacer between it and the t-case adapter, they redrilled mount holes for the crossmember and all.

my truck was stock with a 700r4.

yea no doubt.

Some people shouldn't even be allowed near the kitchen junk drawer with a cheap screwdriver and small hammer for hanging pics on walls. They shouldn't even be allowed to touch a butter knife.
