That windshield frame is probably to blame for most of the firewall rust, I would think.

I think so also it probably ran into the insulation and held the moisture and then with all the drains clogged on the outside it just held it and rusted from both sides.

Starting work on the 82 GN again. Got the grille completely disassembled. Headlight bezels are ready for primer and then a fresh coat of black paint. Originally a vinyl decal was used for the blackout on the headlight bezels. Will get the grille cleaned up and ready for paint tomorrow. Little steps but one less thing I will have to do when reassembly starts.

really looking forward to this one :)

I hope it really turns put nice. I’ve never restored a car that’s as bad as this nor done heavy metal work/welding so it will be a experience for sure. This is my ultimate end goal for what I hope it looks like.

I should go out to Brush truck repair and see how much that guy would want for that Regal that the GN engine I have came out of.
He installed a NA 3.8 into it. that's why I wound up with the GN engine. It was going through quit a lot of oil, He thought turbo and rings, turns out it is the intake gasket at the back of engine.

Wouldn’t hurt to see the old 3.8 engines are getting hard to find I actually have two in my garage just because. The real hard ones to find is the 4.1 252 V6 which is what 82 Grand Nationals came with aside from about 20-30 3.8 turbo v6 cars out of the 215 made

Headlight bezels got primed earlier and I just painted them. Also completely disassembled the taillights for cleaning and restoring.
