there’s an old rule that a fastener should engage to a depth equal to said fasteners diameter i.e. a 9/16” lug nut needs 9/16” depth of thread to thread engagement. Sometimes this can be difficult to measure, say if you have et lugnuts or what not. The manager at America’s/Discount tire in my area told me their rule of thumb on whether they’ll turn down work or not. They say at least 7 full rotations.
This may be common knowledge, it may not. It took some searching to find such a simple answer.
And just in case you stumbled upon this thread looking for torque spec of a 9/16” wheel stud, it’s 130-150 lbs.
