Currently rebuilding the engine in my truck.

Specs:
350
4.030"
76cc heads with 1.94/1.50 valves
TRW 7051P Domed Pistons
~9.5:1 CR
1.5:1 Rockers
Cast Crank
Quadrajet 4bbl Carb

Current cam:
ISKY 201262 262-Supercam
Hyd. Flat Tappet
.435/.445 lift


Looking for a hyd flat tappet cam that can be used without machine work to the heads with a good amount of power, streetability is key.

Was looking around the 262/270 duration like previous, but the isky only has .435 and .445 lift. Definitely a little more room to open those valves up.

Suggestions?

The Lunati Voodoo series is pretty good, I'd look at the 10120703 for you.

I'll take a look at the lunati.

Was looking at the comp cams 12-235-2 and 12-238-2

I'm open to all suggestions, was just throwing the two out there that i had been looking at.

What's the max lift we can get away with on stock cast heads? 0.470 without machining?

What casting number head do you have? And is it stock?

Currently a mixed set of heads. Will get a different set later to bump the Cr up to about 10-10.5:1

487 and an 882

As far as I know, there's no coil bind limitations, within reason there. But they quit flowing over . 480 or so

As far as I know, there's no coil bind limitations, within reason there. But they quit flowing over . 480 or so

Was planning on doing a little porting to them. Especially port matching since the casting is a bit rough on a couple of the intakes.

Just to see if I could get them to flow a bit better than stock.

Port matching is always a good idea, that's about as far as I go personally.

Just my own experience from a few engines over the years and alot if reading, the typical common SBC heads stall out above .500 or so though.

Don't waste your money on a new cam.... LS SWAP!!! :crazy:



Why are you going to spend $300 on a cam kit when you can get a 6.0 for $400 and be good to go for 100k miles? :driver:




*disclaimer* I am not serious about the LS swap, and I would call up the cam manufactures themselves and see what they suggest.

I still think the Summit cams are a good value. IIRC, it's the SUM-1104 cam in my Impala and I really like it. It's a 350 of similar specs and the car is heavy like a truck.

Dad cracked a head back in the 80's out in the desert and it got replaced.

Combustion chamber and valves are the same. Only difference may be the actual port intake size as well as the coolant openings seem a little different too.

My dad did the same on a 75 K20, stripped a plug, threw a 2.02 head on it and drove it for years after lol.

Cams have to be match with the correct compression. a hotter com on an engine with compression rated lower or even on the low side by the cam maker will just burn fuel and never perform You have to know the weight you will be running and the static compression for the cam
