Only happens when AC is turned on . 1986 Chevy c10 305 5.0. Belt vibrates rough. When I turn the AC off and the compressor is not engaged , the belt moves normal. Should I just add more tension to the belt?

Not that this helps, but I had the same issue in the past and for the life of me I cannot remember what I did to fix the problem. I think I might of just tightened it a little and determined it wasn't going to bounce off. A year or so later, I ended up having to replace the compressor and I don't think it bounced as bad after that.

There is a small bracket under the compressor that occasionally is left off. Will vibrate without it. Just looked at one mounted it's impossible to get a decent picture. May be someone can post an exploded view.

Other possibilities are belt as previously mentioned, bad compressor, pressures that are out of spec, high, overcharged.
