Let's say I got a C-30 but NEED to have a 4x4...

If i had more money and time i would buy one of those and remove that dump body. Then i would cut the front off my junk Suburban right at the top of the windshield and splice it together making a Suburban limousine.

I'd love to get the numbers for those trucks. It sounds like what I need for my business. Used to drive an 84 with a 12' stake bed, diesel with a 4 speed. That truck could pull anything!

Except a hill at 65 lol
It wouldn't hit 65 on the downhill with a stiff tailwind. It was more of a city truck in that respect. At 60 it sounded like engine parts were on the verge of coming through the hood.

There’s still some good crew cab 4wd K-20s our tuere

You just have to widen your search

If you use CL click on “search nearby areas “ and refresh the page

Then click on search nearby areas again and it will give you 40 more towns to include
Click em all and refresh again

If you get out a map you can quickly figure out which towns in which states you need to put as the starting point to cover as wide an area as possible

As an example , Montgomery Alabama will cover most of the south if you click the nearby cities twice to load up as many as it will let you


Then you have to search for
K20
K 20
K-20
c20 etc

Or search for
1974 crewcab Chevy
1974 crew cab Chevy
1974 crewcab Chevrolet
Etc

Some 4 wds will be listed as a c20
C10 Or whatever

I’m in Georgia and we found the truck we were looking for in AZ for $1,600

Rust free 4x4 Stepside with a manual transmission
Transport was $800

Totally worth it for getting a rust free truck

The ones in the southwest and California don’t cost any more than he trucks everywhere else
And most have very little or no rust
Just gotta fly out and look it over , buy it , and either drive it back , tow it back , or put it in storage and arrange transport

Or have a trusted person look at it

We had a friend of a friend look at it and transport it to us

In all due respect guys, some of you really need to learn to use the search features.

Having said that I will still help.
The answer is ... no, no, no and no.

2 wheel drive trucks do NOT have the same frame as 4x4. It is not the task of bolting up 4x4 brackets. The upward sweep of the frame, to give clearance for the front axle (4x4) or a place to mount the upper A frames (2x) is different on the two models. Yes they look the same but under careful examination you will discover the differences.

Using a B52 kit from DIY4x4 will work wonders to convert a 2x to 4x.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy that monster dump crew cab, and shorten the frame by moving the spring perches forward (if you want a small lift) and chop off the frame left behind. Use shackle flips to lift the rear.

The 30 series is one ton, C (2x) or K(4x). Then they switched to V in the late 80s... which leaves me confused a bit.

It’s very confusing and most CL posters can’t even spell Camaro

One tons also come with standard rear wheels. It's the weight capacity that makes it one on, not the dually rear end. You can rest assured, all dually squares are one tons... unless of course somebody changed things up.

I have seen (only once I believe) a 4x4 crew cab with the GM 12 bolt front diff and I thought it was a 3/4 ton... but no it must have been swapped out. As far as we know, all crew cabs are one tons.

Most CL posters don't even reply to add queries...
