When we were finally able to go spend some time rebuilding her home I made it out to the Amite to see if there was anything that was exposed from year long gone.

I found nothing but foam coolers, boat seats, junk, and trash... :happy175:
the two forks of the river come together at the LA/MS state line. Both forks are totally different than the river in LA.

I’ve hunted and fished both forks for over 1/2 a century

That is a really nice score there. I like local pieces. I love USHistory & learning about all kinds of places.

My M-I-L lives a few hundred yards away from the Amite River in Baton Rouge. She was flooded out of her home a few years back when you guys got all that rain up there.

Some of the family land on the west fork of the Amite River, where we have family gatherings / camp

The forks are alot different than the river in LA

Hello @PrairieDrifter. I hope all is well.
I have done a really long extensive search to my abilities and have not been able to find any information on what "Gun Winter" is.

I did find out Carter Oil Company is still in business. I was part of Standard Oil, Exxon, and others.

Is there any other information printed on that can?

Please advise.

Best wishes to you and all of your loved ones always!

R.

I'd be interested in a havoline can if the price is right. I'd assume Carter Gun Winter is gun oil for winter use but who knows, the internet didn't have much to say...
I did a quick look over, this is best to worst (left to right). I can get better pics of singular cans. All but one are opened on the bottom, the worst one is open on the top.

The worst one isn't bad at all, got some rub marks, looks like a couple did some rolling or something, none have dents.

For everyone I've got 12 cans i can get rid of.

Not sure that the four wheeler magazine plate counts. Extra points for anybody who knows where the 'this machine bites' plate came from.
Gotta love the jeepster tonka truck.

Got this guy cleaned up out of the last haul. Cleaned up nice. A little rough, but that's my style.

A month ago when going through my Grandpa's garage in long Beach. Got 2 of these bottles. Might not be that exciting but I really got a kick out of it. Has its own jingle and on the picture it's literally got horses pouring out into your tank haha! I'm guessing from around 1959? I haven't researched it tho.
