Leaf springs

My truck has a 2 leaf spring pack in the front and the springs are reverse arched. Everything under there is pretty rusted and worn out, bushings non existent. Are the springs supposed to be like that? I've seen replacements in lmc and others that are either 2 or 3 pack leafs. Also the replacements for the rear are either 5 or 6 leafs, what's the difference besides the obvious.

Yes. 2 leaf springs are base and are reversed arched. The optional three leaf front spring pack was RPO F60.

Rear leaf springs are not documented so you will have to rely on tribal knowledge here to determine how many leafs you should have (depending on your model of truck).

Keith, Glad this was brought up. My 74 c10 LWB rear springs have 8 (7+1). As you can see the SPID shows option G50-Heavy Duty Rear Spring. I want to know if there is a standard number of rear leafs for 1/2 ton LWB? I think mine may be similar to what has been called Heavy Half?

My 78 half ton has these springs. the one on the ground I believe is for a square but i couldnt tell you what for, just potentially a half ton

g50 springs are the springs included with the f44 heavy half ton package.

I will be installing a big block and need the extra capacity and the extra 1/2" or so of spring height would be good.

I'll probably go with the ORD 2" Tuff Country HD springs when I get around to it.
