Leaf springs

Mine are the multi leaf “ORD custom” springs, but not the whole kit. They asked me about a hundred questions before ordering them—there were definitely compromises made between payload capacity and flex. I went more flexy. Already had the grease able shackles, u bolts and shocks...still might need brake lines, but only asked for 2” lift. Their website used to state no ubolt flip kit for the rear on one tons because the spring plate could hit the frame.

As stated, still a lot to think about before slapping it all on and waiting for the 33” tires to wear some so I can justify new 35s.

You build a sweet truck. As you know, airbags for the rear so you can haul some fat chicks if required. And DO NOT attach the bottm of the airbag to the axle. Float it so you still have droop.

Are you geared for 35s? Might want to consider moving your front axle forward a bit and then trim the 'fang' off the fender.
ORD now has relocation plates to move the axle forward without using their awesome zero-rate 1" lift job. Maybe you could use that extra 1"
anyway. Also if you haven't already, consider a 1" body lift...NO MORE!

Stock springs here. If you plan on running any tire over 31" I would suggest a 2" lift min

I am debating between 30x9.5-15 or 31x10.5-15 when the time comes. So with the restored stock height of like 8 inches or whatever, a 31" tire would fit? The tires look kind of small, but my options list shows L78-15 tires as stock, and 235/75-15 is the accepted equivalent. They will only look smaller with new springs.

Do you know what your gearing is?
31x10.5 will look perfect with stock springs. My 89' Jimmy came stock with 3.73 gears and 31x10.5x15

15x8 rim
Make sure to check backspacing on rim before purchasing
3.75" or less on 15" rim The tie rod sits pretty close close

3.73 gears and a 400ci engine; I could probably pull at most a 5" diameter tree from the ground.

Would the extra leaf springs from that site fit any truck, within year application though.


I would keep the stock steel wheels. Maybe the 31"x10.5 would be too wide for them.

A BFG 31X10.5R15LT Tire recommended rim width 7-9" I'm guessing your stock is in the ball park
3.73 gears with 31" tires should be perfect all around gear ratio
As far as springs go call before you buy. You could look around for a used stock 3 spring pack. I gave mine away to metal scrap guy.

If you don't mind spending the cash I would go with Alcan springs in CO.
Prob close to $800 for the pair.

Thanks for the information thus far.

$400 per spring is a bit too much for me. I hope Atlas Spring is cheaper than that. SD Truck Springs seems like what I'll go with for ease of ordering and price.

Scoots1 might have new springs, I'd guess that our 2 leafs were probably about the same height when new. Are your springs original?

I showed the photos to my father-in-law, he smirked and said "wonder how that happened..." He used to haul hogs with this truck, hence why it's on it's third engine and like 4th transmission.

Put it this way.... my 2wd with saggy front coils is on 31x10.5x15s. You will be fine with them on a 4x4
