Is this a good deal on a 78 GMC K10 ?

Wow that looks like mine same colors before I tore it apart. Mine was all original and with a fuel rejecting 350. Mine cost me 400. So keep looking man. Seriously why would you rebuild a 307 if that is really what it is. Like a 307 is any better then a 305......

yeah, I was trying to remember the origins of the 307. Part of me wanted to think it was a car engine, but I seem to recall seeing badging for them on the trucks too?

I think it's like a 70-73ish engine. Gutless wonder and when smog started coming into play. Supposed to be the leader engine to the 350, or step up off the I6 250.

Undesirable junk. It had a 69 Chevelle with one of them what a turd. It lasted 3 days and rods came out to take a look around. Absolute yup the poop emoji cuz they are ****.

They made an SBC 307 from '68-'73.

If a '78 truck has a 307, someone picked up an old junkyard engine cheap and just dropped it in. That is a very bad sign - where else did they go cheap?

A '78 should have a 305 or 350, since they stopped using the 307 in 1973. The 307 was based on the smaller 265/283 bore, but it was basically a cheap economy engine.
