I found a box of 4 of these in my shed. I cant tell for certain but that looks like a piston to me, with a sleeve around it. I thought it was for a 250 but the box only had 4, with no others to be seen. So Im thinking one bay of cylinders in a sb? Is there a way to know?

Either that wheel and tire is really small, the sleeve is really big, or the camera angle is giving me the wrong impression.

The ridges on the outside of the sleeve make me think it's not a repair sleeve. They're usually smooth.

What's the bore diameter, and what does the piston crown look like?

The wheel and tire is a couple feet lower, perspective photo. its i think a wheel from a square. Maybe. 15 inch, 5 bolt. stack of 4.

The crown? Like flip it over? I can measure and stuff, yeah.

Yes, the top of the piston may tell us something.

Could be for anything.

Farmall tractrors have replacement sleeves; you can pound the original out of the block and slip a replacement sleeve in. Those would be four cylinder engines (hence the quantity of four).

Well shoot.. there are only 5 inline 4 tractors on the property,.. one of them a farmall.. which was parked in the field because the engine had about no compression.. and 1 john deer, 2 case, 2 massey harris. Hmm. ill try to find a number, those old tractors likely shared that feature?

Top of the piston should have numbers and or letters stamped on it, use those numbers, do a search on the innernet and it should yield some infuhrmayshun. :Caffeine:
I once did rebuild a Farmall M, replaced the sleeves and pistons but I do not remember what they looked like.

If they are for the Farmall, quick-ish way to get it running again with new sleeves, pistons and rings. Practically a new engine.

Did t you say you have a classic Ford N tractor around? My guess is that it's for that motor. Tractors have sleeved engines many times...I personally can't say for certain if the N tractors were sleeved but I would think they were?
