Next remove coolant sensor plug(this sensor is for the ECM), ECM ground wire and Battery Ground cable from the front of the intake manifold. Both bolts on the ground cable and the ground wire are 9/16". Also note the ECM ground wire bolt also attaches one of the two belt tensioner braces to the manifold.

This is the first thing I should have done, remove battery cables from battery. Socket is a 5/16", or an 8 mm works too. Also remove plug from A/C compressor.

Next remove wiring from the alternator. Mine had a plastic cover on the stud that popped off. The nut on this stud is a 10mm. There is a cable that runs from the stud to tbe battery positive post, and a smaller wir the runs into the engine harness. There is also a plug on the top right of the alternator that can be removed.

Next remove the 2 belt tensioner support rods from the manifold. All 3 bolts/nut have 9/16" heads.

Next remove the throttle, trans, and cruise control cables/linkage. The cruise linkage is held on by a clip, and once you unclip it, the end that mounts to the CC diaphram is a hook shape, and you can maneuver it off and out of the way. The throttle cable is also held on by a clip, and the trans cable "snaps" on and off. So to remove, hold throttle bracket and pull the plastic piece on the end towards the front of the truck for it to "snap" free. Opposite to install.

Next, time to remove the vacuum tube for the power brake booster. You will need a 3/4" wrench to hold the nut on the TB from spinning, and a 5/8" wrench to break loose the tube fitting.

Next, remove the sensor cluster from the manifold. It is held down with a bolt and a nut, both are 9/16". Look at the pic, see how tigh it is to get a socket on the head of the bolt. Be very careful not to put pressure on the throttle position sensore nad crack it or break it. There is just enough room to get a short socket in there and break it loose, then you got to take it out the rest of the way by hand. Remove the front nut first, so when the rear bolt breaks loose, you can swing the bracket away a little to get your hand in there.

Next drain the coolant from the motor. Just need to let enough out to bring the level below the intake manifold height. Taking the radiator cap off helps speed the process...

Next remove upper radiator hose. Some coolant may be trapped at the thermostat housing end of the hose and may spill. Once the hose is off, you can use a screw driver to very gently open the thermostat to drain the antifreeze out of the rest of the housing.

Now time for the fun part, removing stuff from the rear of the motor. Starting off remove the plugs and wire from the coil. Also remove vacuum hoses from the rear of the manifold that feed the dashboard and cruise control. Finally afer 6 months of not having CC I see why, the vacuum tubing is rotted and broken. I will be replacing that on reassembly.:High 5:

Next I removed the heater hose fitting. The nut takes a 1 1/16" wrench.
