And you've already checked out the governor in this truck right?

So no binding in the TV cable, and you can see it pulling on the TB with the throttle linkage?

The TV cable should not be thought of as an automatic downshift cable. It controls line pressures, shift points, shift feel, part throttle downshifts, and detent downshifts. The function of the cable is similar to the combined functions of a vacuum modulator and detent downshift cable. The TV cable operates throttle lever and bracket assembly, Figs. 1 and 2.

2. Depress readjust tab, Fig. 3, and move slider through fitting, away from lever assembly, until slider stops against fitting. Release readjust tab.

3. Open throttle lever to full throttle stop position to automatically adjust cable, then release throttle lever and check cable for sticking or binding. Do not use accelerator pedal to rotate the throttle lever, rotate it by hand at the carburetor.

4. Road test vehicle. If delayed or only full throttle shifts still occur, proceed as follows:

a. Remove oil pan and inspect throttle lever and bracket assembly, Fig. 4.

b. Check TV exhaust valve lifter rod for distortion, or binding in control valve assembly or spacer plate.

c. Make sure TV exhaust check ball moves up and down in conjunction with lifter.

d. Make sure lifter spring holds lifter rod up against control valve assembly.

e. Make sure TV plunger is not stuck.

f. Inspect transmission for correct throttle lever to cable link, Fig. 5.

It probably doesn't need a trans. Sounds like something in the cable or TV valve itself, or linkage is jacked. Dumb question, I know you recently replaced the cable. You didn't let it get burn on the exhaust anywhere did you? That trashes those cable in nothing flat.

Other than jobs being so hard to find these days, sounds like they may have done you a favor.

 I've actually had jobs before where I had severe problems with bosses and owners of companies and told them, "Why the Fugg don't you sorry ass sonuva bitches just fire my stupid ass, because I'm obviously to fuggin stupid to quit. Oh wait, that's won't happen because that's what you greedy fuggs want is stupid people working for you that you can take advantage of. " You'd have thought that would have done the trick, but NO, they usually gave me a raise or promised me a new truck to shut me up. :laughing1:

Its no big deal because now I can spend the time I need to fix my transmission issues I have and take the ex wife back to court to try and get custody of my kiddo who has made it clear that she don't wanna live with her mom anymore and being that the great state of California says a minor over the age of 13 can make that choice on there own I'm very confident that she will get what she deserves
