Ideas for missing headliner

Progress!
I settled on using 4 mm plywood as a base and a carpet material shown before. I used a high temperature trim glue after trying out some other adhesive on sound deadening which failed miserably in a 34 deg C heat.Carpet is rigid enough so that the plywood does not to be as wide as the whole headliner. Final touches and reassembly remains, but I'm more than happy about the results.

How did you do the sides? Did you bed the plywood or cut separate pieces?

The carpet is stiff enough that the area between plywood and side trim is not glued to anything. The glue ends on the edge of the plywood and that couple of centimeters between plywood and plastic trim is self supporting and is not floppy at all. Not shown in the picture are grab handles which I've attached later.

I left even bigger area of carpet without any support near rear A/C, plywood ends under front section of the A/C plastic cover and there are two quite large sections on both sides that are not attached to anything, supported by trim and A/C cover. I'm fine with that but the end of plywood under carpet is noticeable.
