Yes you are correct C4,

I am defintly lucky to be here to even tell you this. I am not going to go into my story again, if you want to read it its on here somewehre, but what I will say is this.
I am DEFINTLY NOT a person that goes to the Dr. for anything and everything,(infact thursday was the first time I have been since my accident nearly 10 years ago) BUT in your case I would really suggest getting checked out PROFESSIONALLY. You could have something internally messed up and not even know about it. Such as a blood claught, they can and DO break free and first place there going is to your heart.
Glad you was able to walk away, hope everything checks out good for you.

I got to thinking about this very thing after I got my mind back together... like your situation...its very serious and I plan to do just that

Damn, we almost lost one of our newbies !!! Cell Phones Kill !!! Distraction, Distraction, Distraction. Sure glad it seems you're gonna be fine. You're gonna be sore as hell today !!!

So did you have a little chit chat with God as you walked in the house to wipe you ass and change your underwear??? I had one of those experiences in the roll back, last weekend where I had to pull over, lay my head back, take a deep breath, go for a walk for a few minutes and a few words myself. But there was no tp around.

Glad you're okay, Adam. I know that must've been scary as hell. One of my good friends from my old neighborhood lost his dad that way. He was laying under a '64 Impala sedan to do something quick and the car fell on him. The family came out to get him for dinner and found him dead under there. I don't wish that on anyone.

My father-in-law lost his left index finger when a car he was working on fell off the jack and crushed his hand. Our passtime is very dangerous and sometimes we forget to treat it with the respect and attention to safety that we should.

My father's 69 C-20 with welder's utility bed on it popped out of gear and ran his leg over, it was ugly. You are very lucky.

So as were telling the one liners of others who were hurt,

A street race buddy died when he had 2 wheels on the curb, other side up on 1 jack stand the other on a jack that fell and crushed his head. No he didn't make it. :sad72: He was dead for probably 20-30 before he was found. Noone was around.

BTW, I"m moving this thread to the GARAGE. It kinda goes along with Garage Safety and needs more attention than just the Lounge. :waytogo:

A family member lost their 3 or 4 yr old when a car he was working on fell forward while running in gear and crushed the lil boy between the car and house. He never picked up a wrench again. Changed his whole lifestyle from working on cars for a living to home a/c work he wont even change his own oil or air filters or anything now.

It's sad to hear these stories. But, if telling the story can make 1 person think, take an extra precaution, and save 1 person, especially a child from a serious injury or even death then it's worth it.

Another share, and this could be many of us, with our lifted big tire trucks. My daughtes mother, her cousin had a lifted Square and it was a big truck. They lived in the country and had a long dirt driveway. He backed out of his driveway, not knowing his 4yo son was behind the truck on his tike bike and ran him over with right rear wheel and killed him instantly. The cousin ended up in the hospital that night in coma with a suicide attempt.

A guy I know here( Nigel) was removing the fuel tank from a pickup last week, the hoist the truck was on failed and the whole works fell on him crushing him. It was an at work fatality. It was his last day with that company( salvage company) before starting a new job with a new employer that was going to pay for his mechanics certificate.

Glad to hear your okay, you should be checked out by a doctor though just in case.

All stories, if discuseed, can and should have been preveneted. You hate to say that, because then someone has to feel guilty, but it's not about that. It's about what the rest of us should do not let this happen again. As a result of my daughter's mother's cousins incident, I always take the long way around my truck when backing out of the driveway. Rather than walk across the front of the truck between the grill and the garage door, I walk around between the tailgate and the curb and get in on the driver door. Just been a habit I got into, now I do it without thinking. There is also 2 twin boys that ride little bikes in my Cul De Sac, that are 5yo. And I don't care what time of day it is either. Before this incident, I've backed out at 11pm and ran over my daughters bike that she left in the driveway behind my truck when she came in crying with a scrapped up knee from a little wipe out that evening. She never went back out and put it away and forgot about it thru all the drama. I shouldn't have depended on a 7yo in pain to do the right thing. Just saying, just change the route you take to get in your truck, and it might save a life someday.

As far as the lift failure... Sad **** !!! ALL LIFTS I've ever seen have a safety stop. NORMALLY the safety stop will set it self, but I"ve seen some that don't so it's up to the tech to set it if its not working properly. Lifts do fail. Normally they won't just drop though. Sad event !!! :sad72:
