Since winter is coming, heat and a defroster would be nice. How did you guys with an LS hook up the vacuum line? I'm thinking about using the push-to-connect port on the back of the intake. I can't find any other vacuum sources.

Do you really need the vacuum ball to make this work?

For my 6.0 ls swap I took vacuum from the manifold where the Evap solenoid was located. Used a brass barb. Then ran the line to a vacuum ball. Then tied into original HVAC.

Without the vacuum ball and check valve, your HVAC system will loose vacuum whenever you get on the throttle. So anytime you accelerate, air will stop blowing out of the correct vents and blow out somewhere else.
