That turned out fairly good. How does this end up being as far as weight?

Its probably ounces more than it was stock. The best fillers would probably be flexible stuff for bumpers but I didn't want to pay that kind of $$ to test how well it would work.

The only rough spot is the right hand corner where I didn't notice it wasn't blocked well. I might put a 6.2 emblem over it and no one will notice.

Test fit after fixing the edges, filling the cracks and sanding the foam down.

I originally intended to stop here, but I didn't like the finish on it. So, I went back to the hardware store(again) and bought a couple cans of Krylon Fusion satin black. This stuff is great because it will bond to darn near anything. They have a large selection of colors so you might be able to find one that matches your interior. Follow the directions on the can and paint right over the bedliner. If all goes well, you'll end up with this.

So you painted over the bedliner coat? Did you sand it over again also? Did you intend on doing it in that order with the first coat being a bed liner paint or was it that you just really didn't like it.

Whew, this was a while back and I have a terrible memory. I intended on spraying the bedliner and leaving it at that. If I recall, the resulting finish was fairly rough and I figured dust would stick to it big time. Also I was hoping for a little more gloss.

No sanding. I just sprayed right over the bedliner and it's still holding up great.

I will add that it has another good sized crack in a completely different area from the original cracks. I suppose it's still crappy old hardened vinyl underneath so it's bound to keep doing it.

Hmmm Great thread! May have to give this a try if i cant find a decent pad in one of the many parts trucks i have access to. By cutting out the perforated areas for the corner speakers im wondering if it wouldnt be possible to fit some after market speakers in the stock corner locations now. From what i have read its usually the small tweeters on the after market speakers hitting the pad material that caused fitment problems. Your computer grille idea gets around that it seems...

I have used an overlay and cut the original speaker grilles out to fit speakers with small tweeters.

When you did this, did you use just the 2 part epoxy to make the surface even or did you have to put something over the epoxy?

Trying this out now, mine is pretty bad. Actually I cannot cut back far enough to reach vinyl that does not crack. Still going to attempt it, if it doesn't come out well enough I will order a replacement. So far I have sprayed some foam to find out i did not cut vinyl back enough. May just leave it brittle plastic weld cracks and spray a couple coats of krylon over it and see how it holds up.

Mine looked like yours, I spent a ton of time on it but it actually cracked in 3 places moving it around.
