Had the old girl to the track and ran 15.90 at 85 mph. Now you might not think that is too great but considering it’s a 1981 and the short block and trans have never been out of the truck. It did have a basic valve job 30 years ago. Still stock manifold and Qjet. Cam, headers and gear change to 3.73 with a true lock.

I have a 86 K1500 Sierra, 305 with edelbrock performer intake, and a edelbrock AVS2 650 carb, sm465, np205, and 3:90 something gears.
Never had it one the track. But it wins between street lights, haha.
With the low ratio nature of the SM465, it has crazy torque, takes off fast, puts you back in your seat, and I can bang shift it quick, but once you get it in 3rd it tops out pretty quick.
Got it up to 100+mph on the highway once, but it was screaming.
Guy in a Camaro tried passing me, and I was like "oh no you don't".
When he finally gave up trying to pass and pulled in behind, I looked at the gauge, and it was pegged down past the middle of the choke light.

I've never had mine at the track. But considering that my '79 is equipped with the 140 HP 305 V8, 3-speed manual trans, and 3.07 open diff, it may be easier to time mine in minutes rather than seconds.....LOL

I’ve always wanted to run my Suburban all out through the 1/4 mile. Problem is, I’ve never found a track with a gas pump at the half-way point.

Haha, I hear ya.
When I really romp on it, you can actually see the gas gauge move.

My Blazer with its 454 is neck snappingly quick. Itll spin all 4 tires easy, then hook and book.
Never raced it, or timmed it, or ever taken it on the pavement since I've owned it. I have a 2 miles straight stretch on my dirt road that I can floor it on.
Got the 86 up to 82 mph on dirt, before o let off. Had the blazer on that same stretch, and I know I was going faster than that, but I lost my nerve. Barely got it into 3rd before I let off, its still got way more in it.
It helps to strip the whole body off practically.

I can't go above 50 mph without the truck shaking apart. If I stomp on it there is an unsettling clunk from the drive-line, so I just putter. Live slow, die whenever. Sloth Life.

I / WE will like to help you fix the old girl up!

Sloth life suxx!

@WesN dude that truck is dope! I have been feenin for that color of primer , it's not seen enough. Nice lookin ride man seriously! I'd take one less inch on the bed ....annnndddddd 4.56s.
:)

15.90@85 is pretty decent trap speed yeah but 15.90? At what altitude?
Is there a bunch of wheelspin?

Is there a build thread? Let's check it out! Moar picks!

Intake manifolds have progressed a LONG WAY since 1980 gm dude, youre leavin a lot on the table imo.

What's it gonna take to cut 14.99? I bet a gear and intake change might do it!

3546 alt. 64degree F no spin but I feel it was running out of gas in the top end and have a new fuel pump coming to replace the original.

Ahh...somethin is goin on there..seems like you oughta be able to generate a lower time @85 mph..a lot lower..like a second!

My square is a whole hell of a lot quicker than when I got it, not quick enough, and not as quick as it's gonna be! :)
