Looking to build something like this, but single axle and fewer cross braces, not for road use or maybe limited light road use. Actually want to build it as a giant service ramp, open center, block the tires stabilize with 4 camper jacks drive on then level with camper jacks, instant alignment rack, etc.lower the rear jacks raise the front for more front access, vice versa for rear let it pivot on single center axle.Parkbit it out of the way when not in use.Who has built their own car trailer? I need help choosing my materials.

I've built a few, but I always put short sides on mine to act as trusses so I can use lighter steel for the main frame.

These were what I really wanted to build but figured no one would know what to build those ramps out of. I figured a modified open center car trailer using a center mounted center axle would be a reasonable facsimile. Those ramps are super cool, the legs are adjustable, the center legs are the pivot point drive on, weight of the car brings the front down lock the back legs down. Anyone do commercial roofing?I was thinking maybe 16 inch strips of commercial steel decking for built up roofs might work if I built an angle iron perimeter and cross braces. If I build the ramps and use a trailer axle for my center pivot I can move it out of the way by myself.Any thoughts? Anyone ?Thoughts on building strong enough ramps to do this.

I've looked up the brand, tried to search for them. It seems they went out of business forever ago. Company name was autolifters of america. But back to what I am wanting. What have people used as the decking on their open center car trailers?I basically want to build a single axle, light duty open center car trailer to use like that lift the Cuda is on.Use the single axle as my pivot point and easy to roll out if the way when not in use.

Can anyone put this pic up for me I cannot upload pictures for some reason.

You can use expanded steel or dimple dyed sheet metal for decking. I picked up this open center trailer new for $2400. It has 5200lb dexter axles with brakes. I couldn’t build it that cheap. It has dimple dye sheet metal. A lot of the steel in the center is not integral to the trailer’s integrity. The company that owned it was building racks for mobile power stations, but went belly up before being used. I’m removing the steel pieces that go crossways in the center and putting pressure treated wood in there, as I use it for hauling around tractors mostly.

There is another company out there that makes a similar lift called Kwik-Lift. I bought one a few years ago and absolutely love it.

I actually saw the quik lift first, but I don't like it as much. There's another company I looked at also but also not as cool as the auto lifter one. The Autolifter one is taller and height adjustable but the coolest part is the middle leg is the pivot. Drive on pass the pivot and it tilts no jack required.

Here's the other company

Not a pic of the whoel thing.. i want to get this out of the weeds in the summer and get it working, as its bigger than my current trailer.... and That is an understatement.

My grandpa built the trailer, but holy hell he overbuilt it. The thing, according to my uncle and dad, you pretty much NEED trailer brakes to haul it empty because it weighs enough to make it dicey unloaded let alone with a car or truck on it.

Once I do get it out, it needs deck boards. I can see what kind of setup is under it at that point. The fenders are so thick i cant bend them or budge them with my hands. I dont know what kind of plate steel he bended into fenders but its heavy. It either has homeade axles under neath or 2 4000lb axles from a big company. i found some warranty information from the late 80s early 90s for axles and He didnt make any other trailers to my understanding. Well, my bad, he did. ITs a small trailer for my skidsteer but that doesnt have 2 axles on it.

I have a smaller trailer too, which he did not make but he put 2 axles under it(Unclear what happened to old ones) but they really would be nice with new boards and new paint and redone wiring and DOT legal lighting.

Put the trailer on those 36s that are on top of it and turn your truck into a DONK!

Quite the harsh ride on steel.. tires! I guess if "tire" and rim is a wheel, steel wheels minus the tire.
