I'm thinking about carrying a spare ignition module/rotor/cap and coil, l think that's about the only thing under the hood l haven't touched and could fail with no prior warning. I had a look at the Rock auto site and the prices do vary. Not afraid to spend more for quality, but this is not always the case. What brands do you buy and NOT buy? I was leaning towards the AC Delco stuff.

OK then you've won me, thanks for the responses. "It's the genuine AC Delco way, or be stopped on the side of the highway"

Splurge and buy a tube of Artic Silver to go with it.

It's an electrically conductive heat sink grease and the best there is for your module. It's about $6 and you'll be shocked at the size of the tube (very small) but a little goes a long way. Worth every penny.

And plastic rotor screws I hear can help prevent grounding through the screws
