Again here I go with Engine Masters. But an H and X are both better than straight pipes. H pipe won in tq by 2 H.P. and the X won in H.P. by like 2. Nothing you would ever feel.

I just like seeing the comparisons on the dyno by engine masters and they love the Chevy. Lol
Do you remember the RPM where the gain showed? I'm guessing it's 5000 and up..

Good question. I think I'd go for a 3K rpm for street.

It definitely quiets it down accross the rev range. It helps with scavenging, which I think is more of a low rev thing. Kind of like header primaries that are too big and reduce scavenging hurts low end torque.

edit: and I think the fact that it increases torque would suggest it helps down low.

Sadly the welds eventually rust and crack, causing leaky drama down the road. Once that happens you can just keep repairing it on and on. I finally
kinda let mine fall off and I welded patchs on the holes.

I have seen T's - in stainless - but none in the US.....which seems odd. The kits Summit and Jegs sells have the T's - but IIRC they're not SS.

Stainless exhaust pipe is actually really low grade stainless, at least the stuff I see up here in Cancan.. of course it doesn't rust like normal
steel, but it's not the stainless you would imagine.

Torque was up across the board (but by so little it doesn't matter on either number) Horsepower you are right.

Dude a kit?
Srsly.
It's 2 feet of pipe! If your exhaust guy wants more than 20-30 bucks for that ten minutes worth of gas , u'd be better off finding a new exhaust guy. Just sayin - he's got a pile of pipe you could use.
I put an H pipe in the SS freakin I dunno...20 years ago?
I bet it would kick my ass if I gave it any ****...best part about an "H" pipe is it doesn't pop.
Ever.
Kick.Ass.
ONLY smooth,mellow,plushness.

Don"t you deserve it?
Doesn't your truck?

You'll never go back to "true duals".... :33:

Either an X or H pipe are a big improvement for sbc or bbc, I prefer x pipe for street car and h pipe for truck, since you can monkey with your low end torque better with h pipe diameter, length and location. Mostly the deeper sound of h pipe.

It's the labor... without a 'kit' you would have to make the 'T's and fit the pipe. Time consuming pain in the ass ****, not a 5 minute job.

If ive got 3" and wanted to add an "H" would it be better smaller or the same?

The same.

Totally a five minute job, ive seen it done. There is no Tee, melt a hole, melt a hole + 2 welds. 5 minute job.
