Was going to build a custom full console, but still wanted it to look like a old truck .. Thought that the console was not the look I was after ..

Made up the weld-in crack spacer ..
Looks to fit the need ..

Started in on installing the power cowl vent motor ..

You must be registered for see images attach

Wasn't intending doing power on the cowl vent ..
After I made up the A/C Pod and did a test fit seen a problem ..
The Pod was in the way of working the factory cowl vent handle ..
Could have made it work by making up a S handle to replace the stock one, but that may of been somewhat off the wall and looked funky ..

Watson's Streetworks ( www.watsons-streetworks.com ) had the cure ..

Most likely with having A/C on line the cowl vent won't be seeing much action ..
Since the keyless door locks remote fob has a few unused channels, could hook the vent up to work by remote control ..

.. That would freak-out some folks !! Lol

Been giving some thought on the new aftermarket wiring harness ..
Bought this critter a while back for running the wires though the firewall ..

After some more thought went down, it's not going to work for me ..
The truck is going to have a world of wires going though the wall ..
There's the common wires for the motor and all the lights, this would work well for them ..
But, I have the wires for the trans stand-alone controller and trailer electric brakes plus a few others that will be seeing the wall ...

New game plan is in the works ..

This one should allow room for all the wires ..

I gave the vent a slight tilt ..
More cracks to be filled ..

Eek ... (Maybe I should rephrase that ?)

Done with the cracks ..
Left a rolled edge where the Pod meets up with the dash ..
Thinking that would be a better look than butt to butt ..

The gig with the truck in the above photo ..
(S-Series)

My truck is a R-Series .. L-Series was the first of the Comfort Vision Cabs ..Made from 1950 to 52, then came the R's in 53 production ran to 55 with those bad boys .. Same cab as the L's then in 56 the S Series (Same cab as the L's and R's) Interesting bout the R Series tucks.. IH built them into the late 60's in the Heavy Duty version ..

Tidbit of useless information :
The dash that is going in my 54 R-100 Light Duty truck came out of a 1967 R-190 over the road truck ...

Thought I was ready for the base coat ...
Nope, after the shoot found a few boggers that I missed in my prep work .. Bummer, got to re-shoot the critter .
( Think I might try out a stronger pair of glasses on the next coat )

Oh-well ...
That's all part of the journey ..

Anybody got a 3-3/8" VDO Series 1 gauge to sell ..
Don't matter if it works or not, I need only the chrome bezel ..
I have a old console manifold vacuum gauge from a early 60's Pontiac LeMans ...

The bezel that's on it is not a match to the VDO (333355) tach, since I'm into reworking the dash sure would be good timing to make it look like it belongs ..

Really don't need it to tell me when I got my foot in it, got that down pretty good, but it fills the hole in the dash quite nicely ..

It's a tach just like the one I already have .. He said that it's NOS never used ...

Being the truck has recently seen a outside Sun-Visor installed, thought it would be a good idea to run a traffic light viewer ...

Wasn't about drilling a hole in the dash to mount the thingy, so I'm going to use one of the bolts that og was for mounting electric wipers ..
My truck came with vacuum wipers, but the holes was drilled for the electric, had plugs filling the holes ..
These bolts and cup washers are factory for the ele wipers
Had them plated years back, liked the look over the plugs that was there from the get-go .. Their not doing anything, just along for the ride ..
I'm going to drill & tap one to install the viewer ..

Gives it a old school look from yesteryear ...

What does this switch do ...

(Been so long ago I forgot)
Early 1960's IH's had two small fuel tanks, fill in each front inner fender well. The tanks, outboard of the frame, running back under the cab. They had a rotary switch to switch the fuel gauges. Running through the center of the rotary switch was a pull cable that operated the mechanical tank valve to switch tank's feed. Did your original IH chassis have 3 tanks?

No, the IH truck only had one 16 ga tank on the driver's side ..
I added a 30 ga bed tank, using a ele. switch from a GM dual tank truck ..
Pull switch on the dash works the GM ele. fuel valve ..

Switch on the right of the gauge switch ..

As far as the right side IH optional aux tank goes, seems to be super rare for the light duty trucks ..
Kind of looking like I'm going to have the need to hand spin one ...

Sure would like to run up on a fuel valve that controls fuel flow from three tanks ..

This has been fun to watch. For a body swap build, your truck looks nearly factory on the outside to the untrained eye. The extra work you did to the dash to accommodate add-ons and mods is impressive too.
