Well, I decided not to use the bezel for the vacuum gauge ..
It being in bad shape where it mounts to the gauge cup was going to be a eyesore ...

Will be on the hunt for another VDO tach just like the one I have ..
Do think I can make the bezel work much better than the one I have in hand ..

The finish look will be the same as how the tach looks in the dash ..

Years back I bought a windshield wiper kit that coverts the factory vacuum wipers to electric ...
Still working as good as day one ..

Did have a small problem at the time of installing the kit ..
Was wanting to keep the stock IH knob, didn't get to do that due to the switch being a different size ..
What I did to get close to keeping the look of a stock knob was to saw up a knob and use it as a hat ..

Got a better look than what the aftermarket had, but was a bit M/M ...
Called the company to see if they had any ideas on how I could use a stock knob on their switch ..

They did ...

Being I'm working the dash thought was to install power to the cowl vent . This option wasn't on the table until I found out the home spun A/C pod was n the way of the vent handle ..

Making up a new arm for the vent door ..

Don't have much room for the vent motor hardware with the windshield wiper stuff taking up the needed room ..

Just did a test run ... It's working ..
Had to shorten the motor's throw a little. Really didn't need the full two inches that it came with ...

I dont know how far you have got on the gm steering column but be sure and loctite the three small screws under the turn signal because on three of mine they have come loose, then you get a wobbling steering wheel where it tilts and its a pita to get to them after its together. boy thats a lot of hours but you are doing great. My 63 j200 has all the 80s electrics but still with a homade 40 fuse fuse block that needs upgrading bad. I dont think the 65 caddy electric window mechs I used will ever wear out. I havent set down a counted how many circuits it has. It also needs a upgraded efi from the old holley it got in the 80s.
I think this is a great build, right up my alley. I might be jumping the gun but if it is sorta old school maybe a fi 500 caddy would be neat.

ih travellalls and 70s pickups and 800 scouts all had fender tanks, I'm not sure but one of them might fit your application. When the far east embargo happened in the 70s I built two more tanks for my j200 so I could make it to the deerlease and part of the way back so I could get enough fuel to make it home I also carried a 6 gallon can in the back for emergency. I used a threeway manual valve which was all I could find at the time. chev had the electric two way but I needed the threeway, I never thought about big truck stuff back then.
