Hello all,
As I’m sure you can guess I’m new to the site and have been reading the forums for years. Figured it’s about time I join up and get in the mix.
I have owned multiple squarebodies in the past (83 K20, 350/465, 55k miles)(79 k5, 350/465, tons) but I currently have a 1991 v3500 454 4l80e that I bought from my brother. I went with him to get the truck about 7 years ago and always wanted a crew cab. He finally decided to sell to me (lucky I knew what he paid for it) so I brought it home.
Been an adventure up to this part. Fuel pumps weren’t coming on so swapped the FP relay, oil pressure sensor, tank switch and finally the tank selector valve and success!… sort of.. truck will run for about 6 seconds and dies.
I am currently in the process of removing both tanks to replace tanks and pumps, as the aux tank has a rust hole. I am looking at the other posts about the tank straps and attaching to original bracket.
The only other thing I recall about the truck when my brother bought it was that the truck moved when cold but when the trans warmed up it started acting like the trans was slipping badly. I haven’t been able figure out what that’s all about but I figure if I get the truck to run for more than a handful of seconds, I’ll try to flush the trans with a new filter and see what happens.
Anyways, if anyone has any page links to help point me in the right direction I’d be grateful.
Looking forward to working with yall, thank you and God bless
Rhett

Nice score on the crew cab. 2wd?
Yes sir. Ideally would have liked a 4wd but it’s still going to do what I need it to do. My brother started hoarding the crew cabs when they were gaining popularity and has a nice 85 dually. Although his priorities are a little goofy, he says he likes squarebodys but loves ol fords. He is working on a 12v swap on a high boy super cab 4wd. (I know a little off…)
Thanks for the like and the reply.

Welcome from the Tarheel State Waterboy. That a high quality R-3-0 you have there. I have a pair of 79 Crews myself.

Thank you sir, sharp unit on your profile image. Love the brown 2 tone, my last k20 was a similar design. Always been a fan of a white truck but the brown was always my wife’s favorite and can’t disagree, it’s nice.

Yup my Dad woulda loved your two tone brown and cream 3+3, he always wanted one and that's the color combo our 77 and 79 Burbs were. He's probably looking down at me and shaking his head, seeing me and Mom with the OBS CCLB (I would have liked to have a square one but they're too expensive for anything you could drive reliably down here in SETX).
