What specifically are you looking for? Red lettering with the background silver? I think any time the lettering was red, the background was black... or maybe white? Its hard to tell sometimes....

I think mine is a little different than that even. The clear plastic piece has come off one side and its all just the zinc color. When it did have color it was just black and silver. The other side has the clear covering but looks like it never had any other color underneath either. It could just be faded as well though??. Personally I was going to just cut the center logo out and use my 3d printer and some epoxy and make a custom emblem. They definitely changed over a few years. especially after about 1983. I know I have not really found any on the repop websites. Usually just the occasional one I have seen on ebay and I'm not paying those prices for one, lol.

That's what my factory hood ornament looked like. Took it apart and spent a lot of time with Testors model paint and pinstripe tape. Then coated it with polyurethane to get this.
I hated that factory ornament.

How did u get yours apart
Small flat blade screwdriver. Its plastic on each side of the ornament with some sort of silicone stuff in between. The ornament is flat stock chrome plated inside. The GMC logo is etched into the plastic cover. The two covers must be pressed into the ornament before the silicone cures.
The two covers just pried apart with a little persuasion. When you seperate the covers the logo was raised in the silicone The logo was torn in a couple places after removing the covers but I was able to glue the logo back in place.
I used some 1/8" pinstripe tape to tape off the chrome accent stripe. Then spent days painting it under a magnifying glass. After painting it, the tape came off so it looks like a chrome stripe.
