Gauge/idle Fuse

Hello,

I am having a problem with the gauge/idle Fuse. It keeps popping Everytime I got to start the truck. All other fuses are good.
It's a 86 chevy K10. Any advice?

Start by giving the wiring under the dash a through inspection. Is there anything extra plugged into the fuse box? Any add on accessories?

Have you done any recent work to the dash? Maybe driven a screw into a harness?

All I did was put new rocker panels on. I haven't done anything under the dash.

I gotta ask..what's an "idle fuse?"

I think on certain model years they used a idle stop solenoid. Not the fast idle solenoid most people think of when mentioning a idle solenoid.

anytime the ignition was on, the solenoid is activated. The idle solenoid is what actual controlled idle speed. Turn off the ignition, the solenoid shuts off, the throttle closes further than it normally would.

This was an attempt to stop the engine from “dieseling”.

The sending unit is on the ground side of the gauge, if the wire was grounded the worst that would happen is the gauge would read empty. Assuming the gauge cud get power from the blown fuse.

It was the black pink wire coming from the fuse box. I think that leads to the fuel gauge?

@SquareRoot,

Ha, ha, ha, I was going to ask the same question. Never heard of it. I had a idle solenoid on my carb but disconnected it. It held the throttle linkage off idle to long and was problematic in that it wouldn't come off by tapping the peddle lie I was supposed to. But to hold the throttle closed to eliminate dieseling, that's laughable since they had to have known it was to low octane fuel and timing and all that transition to unleaded gasoline that was causing it all. Big American cars weren't designed for sissified unleaded gas from a bunch of European front wheel drive wimps.
More liberal crap trying to solve a problem that didn't exist.
