I emailed the seller asking what was up that this didn't jive. Here's his response.

OK, everyone member this post from a few days back. I emailed that seller and you see his response above in my quote. So he checked into it as he said he would, and here is his "checked into it " response. Get a load of this **** !!!! ......
We have found no evidence pointing to theft or tampering. We think there are two probable explanations. First and most likely is that the manufacturer modified a LATE '79 prior to shipping to the dealer so it could be sold as an '80 version. I have encountered this practice several times. Second is that the buyer requested that some '80 options be added so it could be sold for a lower price yet look like an '80. This also is often done. It is also quite possible that the 13 character vin# can no longer be read accurately now. What we do know is that it is a dually with a 454, an 80 grill, The title is clear and has been insured by several different companies, none of which had any problem with the vin#. In any case, it is a beautiful truck and there is no reason to think the next buyer would have a problem. If you are still interested let me know. Bob
