Nice! I wondered about some large black tubing for sprinkler systems or something. I personally have just wrapped electrical tape to the appropriate thickness. Last a good bit but is easy enough to replace when it wears out.

I wonder if this would help the tailgate on my 87 suburban. If shuts pretty much normal and the body line look correct when closed but if you pull it like you were opening it without pulling the latch it moves out between 1/2 and 3/4 of an inch. I've not really worried about it too much yet, still trying to fix PO induced wiring issues but seeing this reminded me I still need to fix that tailgate.

A buddy at work with a nice Round Eye opened the door and said "Damn, those shut nice". I can hear his rattle across the parking lot so I told him my trick.

Yep, it'll work assuered. Appears tape works too, but I'd still do the PEX. It's cheap enough.

Ok I went to oreilly auto parts and bought tailgate striker bushings for a ford. That's really all they had so don't judge...lol. Anyway, I removed my strikers from my crew and pressed the bushings onto the striker shaft...works like a charm. I had a 90 suburban that i did the same thing to and never had one break for 9 years...been on the crew for about 8 months and still look new. I used a strong magnet to hold the retainer in place on the burb...DID NOT WORK on the crew...retainers fell and i had to dig for them.

Awesome!

Growing up with this issue and then recently getting my next truck with the same issue I just assumed the doors always had to be slammed... lol... Now my wife can close her door without trying 2, 3, 4 times... :)

Thanks for the fix!

No, PEX is a softer material. I cut it with just a razor blade.

PVC would shatter when the latch closes on it. I wouldn't have been able to drive a piece of PVC onto the pin like I did the PEX.
