Yea, I topped it off and put a small amount in a gas container, Walmart Murphy’s blue, ethanol free 87.

Idk maybe someone has volumetrically measured these tanks (not that it matters) but my fuel gauges work very well and I’ve run a tank down to zero needle movement and a tad below E and stuffed about 19gal into it literally filled to the cap as it had fuel visible in the filler neck. Truck was still running on that tank when I pulled in, so obviously not totally empty.
I just couldn’t envision getting to the gas station under your own power and putting over 21 gal per tank into each 20 gal tank.
Hence why I asked or assumed he had a rear tank.
Just gauging how “empty” these tanks are when they get near the published capacity.

Yea, I was running on fumes when I pulled up to the pump. Each of the two tanks took nearly 20. First time I’ve ventured out over 5 miles, went nearly 20, forgot to put on the license plate too, didn’t notice until I got to the station.

It actually drive’s pretty good but man it’s sure is a rough riding truck. I just looked at the suspension bushings and I believe they are over due for grease or replacing. I also couldn’t find the tank vent hoses and there isn’t but one motor vacuum line connected to the canister. I’m going to need a vacuum diagram to determine what needs to be connected.

I have dual tanks on mine as well but never filled up both since the passenger side never worked as long as I had it. Brutal enough to fill up one side with these prices.

I try to keep my one 20 gallon tank in my 84 C2500 at the half full point. Gas here in North Central Arizona has gone up almost a dollar a gallon in the last month. Everyone is about $3.89 for the grocery store stations, to $4.19 for the brand names(76, Shell, Chevron).

We are still paying mid to high $4.s per gallon. I was happy when it dipped below $5.00 so I could fill the tank before it stopped at $100.00 with a partial tank.

Imagine how independent truck drivers feel. You guys are upset over buying 40 gallons. Probably once a week.
Try 150-200 gallons a day, every day you're trying to earn your living. Perspective is key.

I live over the hill from you to the west, but was over in your neck of the woods this week. Gas prices are identical at the Maverik next to the YRMC hospital over here.

I've got two 20's. My system is to run the left tank to E or a little below, and then fill the right tank at 3/8 - 1/4. Well last Thursday I put $148 in her, 35ish gallons.

OP, look at it this way, it's the same amount if you have one 20 gallon tank or 2, you just pay a larger sum at one time and stop for gas 1/2 as much if you fill both tanks.
