I was not aware that option existed for the 80 MY and prior. My 91 Sub had one.

For the early ones, could it be part of the Trailering Special option?

@AuroraGirl - can't remember if your SPID mentioned that or not.

This is what I'm still curious about. Are the late 70's oil coolers the same as the common 80's cooler?

My '86 Suburban came with one just like that. I may still have it around somewhere. Truck originally had a 350.

Yeah, that's an AC condenser. The other thing is an oil filter mount for something. I'm not sure what that something would be.

I have too many of these things.. think it's for a square? My GPA scrapped a CORE SUPPORT but keeps random condensors wtf. not even just that he cut it directly down the middle with a torch. so probably could technically be repaired but it's a lot of work for something that won't look perfect anymore. And would be a lot of work

I think I found my adapter?

ALSO, I found a HEATSINK in the shape of an L, I can take a photo later, but it is blowing my mind on its application. Has anyone heard or seen such thing?
It hhas a in and out port, which is just an unthreaded hole. Its aluminum.

Looking at the upper right diagram, it's the same as mine. LE8 is the code for my 454. The hoses look the same, but the bottom of my cooler has threaded 90's for the hoses that are soldered to the bottom of the cooler. I just bought some Dorman replacement lines for mine as they are half the price of GM.

Can anyone give me dimensions on their oil cooler? I don't NEED it to be a factory one since I couldn't find it after an exhausting 3 minutes(joking) but It would be nice to find one that is either plug and play with the OG or the OG or one that would require little extra to fit. GMT 400 oil cooler seems to be the same concept but turned sideways maybe even shorter

It seems to be the same or very similar to the 80's version, according to the factory illustration you posted earlier.

I've got two GMT400 trucks at my house right now with a factory oil cooler, and both of those have the cooler built into the left side radiator tank.

I should clarify, factory auxillary cooler. The squares also had factory tank coolers. Not sure if they were good or not tho

Yeah, I don't remember ever seeing a separate cooler in a GMT400 truck. I maybe just never noticed them, but I worked on hundreds of those trucks over the years.

I know diesel squares and '91 big block squares got the internal cooler. Were there more?
