Ever see this kind of grease fitting?

I think the needle looking tips are for piercing the rubber seals around whatever joint you want to lube..........BUT that's NOT a good idea, first it's not gonna get to the ball and socket and second you are putting a hole in the seal and compromising the joint
Im pretty sure the actual needle needle ones are meant for that. Like smaller than the one pictured. Then the one pictured pushes into a springshut orifice that allows you to pump in but removing the needle closes it. It’s how you do a double cardan I thought?

They are useful for the non-greasable type, if they have a smidge of play in the joint. It will get a few more miles out of them before they are completely shot.

@bucket,

Yeah, I've done that before and like you say, "...get a few more miles out of them..." I've shoved grease into the space with my finger as hard as I could. It worked to some degree but no idea exactly how much actually got in there. Boy, what we'll do to not have to tear down the whole thing for just a little bit longer.
