Can someone tell me if the frame brackets that the 6.2 diesel motor mounts attaches to (not the clam shells) are the same as the frame mounts on a SBC V8 truck?

Yes they are. However you can get heavier duty ones made by energy suspension.

The brackets that attach to the engine crossmember and go up to the top of the frame rails? It's my understanding that they are the same. But they do differ between 2wd and 4x4.

They're not the same. 6.2L uses bigger motor mounts and bigger frame brackets. They may be the same as a big block. Not sure.

I am talking about the brackets from the cross member to the frame. They do look a little different from the ones in the 73 C10 that I have.

The things that the rubber motor mount are bolted to. Not the brackets on the block, but the ones on the chassis, right?

They're different.

Perhaps post a picture of what you’re talking about. Seems like some of us are confused on what you’re asking about.

But dimensionally interchangeable? I know a guy that put a 400 small block in place of a 6.2 and I don't remember him having to change the frame brackets.

The bracket that the motor mounts attaches to. If you look, you'll see a couple of mounting holes that maybe a different bracket would mount to.

Yes, one of my friends did a 6.2 L swap and used the SB components. However, I'm fairly certain he had to use the SB motor mounts instead of the larger ones the diesel used. It all fit together, but it's not the way the factory did it. I was more retentive and bought the factory parts for mine.

Anyone have a set of the SBC frame mounts you want to part with?

My conversion was a 4WD and it was over twenty years ago, so even if I could find them they still wouldn't help you. Sorry. :(

But you can probably still get away with using the diesel components. My friend used the gas components on his diesel and got away with it. You'll just end up with bigger motor mounts for a smaller engine. Win - win.
