Engine cooling fans

I just picked up a used 4 row radiator that looks good. I plan to have it cleaned out tested. This is for my 77 C20. I want to add electric cooling fans. My question is does anyone have a good experience or can recommend an electric cooling fan assembly/module for my truck. Any comments welcome.

All depends on what you wanna spend. You can get VFD controllers and cheap junk or build your own from other vehicles. I’m running a Ford fan with a Volvo controller and a BMW switch. My big block never sees over 190 even beating it. And it has after run feature as well.

It also depends which mill needs cooling. BBC need more than sbc... Higher compression needs more cooling. Towing needs more cooling.
BBC with high compression towing in the desert needs serious cooling!

I just pulled two sets of fans out of a pair Ford Windstar vans this last weekend.
I plan on following the thread that Honky Kong Jr posted to get my truck to stay nice and cool.
As well as losing the engine driven fan.

The ones I saw mentioned in the thread were the 1999ish versions.
So I pulled one set from a '99 and the other from a '00.

WHATEVER YOU DO, if you can find a way to mount the fan in the factory shroud from your truck, do it. My build is nothing special. 350 with dart heads and a CR around 9.3:1. I don't rod on it and I don't tow with it yet, but even when out cruising on a 100 degree day it stays as cool as it needs to. I grabbed a ford windstar fan setup from the local junkyard and am using just the big fan mounted inside the factory shroud from my truck. It works great. I am also using the AutoCool NB100 fan controller and I gotta say that I love it.

I had to run my fans off of a 100 amp continuous relay that my controller turns on and off. I burnt up 4 or 5 fan controllers before I ran it like this. Even the painless f5 duel fan controller I spent $260 on. It's easy to wire up just opening- closing relay.

Ya, what the hell kind of fans you playing with? Is this some kind of hovercraft?

You don't have to use a factory shroud but you do need to use some type of shroud that spaces the fans off and across the radiator properly.
