Vac advance will help it idle, but it still needs to be limited. Or you will detonate to the moon..

So match you vac readings to the chart I posted. Which ones does it match? Critical info

According to that I have a cracked or warped intake. Doesn't say anything about having a biggo cam. And I have soaked the entire intake and runners with carb cleaner again today and can't find a leak. I'm not passed replacing it if I need to, but I have a **** ton of tuning to do before I can determine that it's a bad intake.

Vac advance didn't help my idle. Made it worse of anything. When I unplugged the big manifold vac port to hook up the pcv it immediately killed it. I knew it would idle bad with it sucking that much air but I didn't think it would completely kill it that fast.

Yup your sealed up good. That's why it died. The vac advance made the idle worse because it's advancing the timing too much. Tune away my friend.

Is it really sealed up or was that sarcasm? Lol I will run it without vac advance until I get the rest figured out and figure out how to limit it. Does the pcv have to be hooked to the carb or can I run it to the charcoal canister?

I was being sincere :) carb or manifold. It utilizes engine vacuum to remove the (positive crank case pressure) created from now by via piston rings and valve guides/seals

Gotcha. It's hard to convey tone via text lol. I didn't adjust idle mixture any further out than 2 turns but I will try that tomorrow and see if I get any better results. I also have some serious choke/fast idle issues that need addressed very soon. Damn thing jumped up to like 3500 RPMs on its own and I couldn't get the fast idle to kick off.

Back out the fast idle screw as it's too far in.You only need it to be set to raise the rpm to 1500-1800rpm on the real cold days the back it out during the summer if it isn't needed to start the engine :)

Thank you sir. We're going to get this sucker whipped yet. Also forgot to tell you, was having to hold the throttle to the floor to get it to start and it would t run worth a crap. Had some help and determined the carb bracket wasn't sealed up good, so I doubled up the gaskets and RTV'd the **** out of everything and it worked like a charm.

I knew it wasn't sealed up bud. Side note in all my carbed vehicles on cold starts I've never had to pump the pedal more then half the way once maybe twice depending on the weather. No prob bud time to relax and drink a beer. Good job!

I used to only have to give it 1 pump until recently. I thought the fuel pump was just shot. Still not convinced that its operating properly.

Why is it that I can turn the key to the run position and leave it for hours and the choke won't open but it will open after the motor has been running? I thought it would heat up with key on power.

Is the 12v power source run through the oil pressure switch? Also the throttle will have to open to allow the coke linkage to come off the step it's on
